FRUITY.
This piece explores queer joy, sensuality, and self-expression through humor, ornamentation, and material excess. Using hand-beaded fruits suspended over reflective gold-painted forms, the work reinterprets the traditional cornucopia as a symbol of abundance, desire, and fluid identity. Tambour beading on sheer organza creates layered surfaces that feel playful, bodily, and unstable, encouraging viewers to move closely around the piece and engage with its shifting reflections and textures. By reclaiming the word “fruity,” the work transforms a historically derogatory term into a celebration of queerness, visibility, pleasure, and pride.
